Going to have my first dip at Kal for the season.
R1 7 Western Trader
R2 1 Juggernaut Jack - 9 Farethewell - 4 Kosana
R3 5 Kalarena
I wouldn't be taking too short a price as its first up run was woeful. Last prep was flying so am hoping it was just a slight hiccup in its prep.
R4 4 Tuscan Ruler 1 Misty Affair 11 Continental Miss 2- Petit Maison
The start of the quaddie is a most open affair. Tuscan Ruler was in very good form last prep and did show speed in its races, so although poorly drawn, I can see it presing forward early. The top 3 are all good chances. Bonsoleil will appreciate the drop back to 1200m and a sneaky is Continental Miss, especially if it has improved form its first up run. I think the pricing tells the story however as it is very open.
1-Misty Affair $5.80
4 - Tuscan Ruler $6.80
11 Continental Miss $7.70
2- Petite Maison $7.90
10 Bonsoleil $10.40
3 Lavished $11.40
6 Easy Rider $11.70
5 Vaintrain $12.00
R5 2 Class To Go 1 Kalahnhni 5 Paniz
Not overly keen. Runholder looks the speed. Class To Go has been placed at all starts at distance but is yet to win.
1 Kalahani $3.10
2 Class To Go $4.60
5 Paniz $6.80
3 Saddington $7.70
6 Nobel Acclaim $8.80
4 Runholder $15.00
R6 7 Menhuhin 4 Two Strong Hearts 8 Midngiht Train
Another open race. Cool Euro has impressed of late and Menhuin is always a chance. Midnight Train and Misty are a good team and if it can get away with a bit up front, might be hard to run down.
5 Cool Euro $4.90
7 Menhuhin $4.90
4 Two Strong Hearts $5.40
8 Midnight Train $6.10
1 Torrid Affair $10.90
R7 1 Danterina 2 Running Mist 3 Cheval Roi
A good race to finish. Really keen on the toppie, even tohugh drawn wide. Plenty of early speed in this so hopefully can slot in.
1 Danterina $2.40
2 Running Mist $8.10
9 Taeken $8.60
5 Zedream $11.60
4 Soprano Rex $14.60
8 Secret Prince $16.00
3 Cheval Roi $16.60

Belmont 14th May
Some excellent racing today, especially towards the end of the card.
Weather: Fine Track: Good
R1 The Regulator looks set to repeat its last start win. Dangers are Ultimate Fighter and Belora.
R2 Skinny field that lacks speed. Not a race I like.
R3 Tax A Million and Lord Hatras are both very promising. I did like the trials of Ron's Call, although the times were a tad slow. He was put under some pressure in each of his trials but did hit the line hard.
R4 Tough race. Pace looks average. Dempsey and Mabel Grace should go forward. Happy to risk Mabel today. If you are looking for a roughie today, I am expecting good improvement from Royal Devotion. Although never tried at the trip, it has raced successfully over 1400m and I don't think this will be a pressure cooker race. Cohort is always a chance this grade.
R5 An even field. Global Flirt did it tough last week and still does a lot wrong. Some significant gear changes today which may make the difference. Main danger is Rosie Rocket who is in rare form. Exiht, Reale Fury and perhaps Lottabiz for the placings.
R6 This is tough affair. As opposed to the earlier races, there is tremendous speed in this. Pin Rouge returned with an impressive win at northam when it set a solid pace up front. It has shown that it can work early, yet still be strong at the finsih.Cobble Lane, Like A Vain will go forward. Keshaar is drawn to get a good run as is Nomunnofun. I'm actually quite keen on Away Ye Go. Has been on speed at its last two and if it can get cover today, it should be there at the finish.
R7 A Super race with the majority resuming making it extremely tough to rate. Power Princess was impressive 1st up but is drawn a tad wider today. Premardal raced well last prep and should get a nice run from the good draw. Keytomoney has been going well and should hit the line hard. The two at the top are the class runners and both have a good chance.
R8 This is another open affair. Like Aptodeti at an EW price. Gypsy Myth, now that it gets a run is a top show and Will to Win raced well at is first WA start. Go Buster is an old fav and can never be underestimated. Little Grey Teapot also trialled impressively for its return. A good finish to the quaddie.

New Zealand Racing
Over the past few months I have been taking a bit of interest in NZ racing. Today at Foxton, James MacDoanld is aiming to win his sixth jockey challenge in a row.
So far this season, he has won 22 from 28 appearances. For a 19 year old, this is an impressive performance and he is on target to break the most number of winners in a season by any NZ jockey. Good luck to him today.
If you are interested in checking out NZ racing for some reason, especially with so many horses coming across for the Brisbane carnival, the following websites are a good place to start.
NZ TAB Has an excellent news section
NZ RACING Form and data. Offers video replays of all races.
STABLE TALK An all encompassing forum.

Mid Week Roughies
Have a few going around this week.
Wednesday
CR1 No1 Mr Vadim - My Comment - Trialled nicely. Showed some ability when last in work. Is up against a smart trialler in Varney but may offer a little value. Ran 2nd. Races with head held very high - Sacked
CR4 No3 Jack 'N' Nort - My Comment - Resumed with a nice effort over the 1000m. A bit flat midrace but picked up again. Drawn terribly but worth including in the novelties. Sat 3wide the trip and boxed on really well. Keep following
Thurday
SR1 No4 Forshot - My comment- Limited ability but was making nice ground late. Similar class only.
ORX9 No15 Shan's Joy - My Comment - Very unrucky when resuming. Looks like it will get a trip. This one is backing up within the week and over the same trip. Should be an EW quote.

Ascot
Pretty happy to see the end of Ascot for another season. Form is always a bit topsy turvey over the next few weeks as we head back to Belmont with many horses resuming form spells.
Race 1: The Regulator has been in excellent form and was well handled by Yuill to win impressively. Hecacity looks likely to win a midweek event shortly.
Race 2: A very impressive win by trial booker in King Saul. Definitely one to follow. Dr Indy went well and is a coming winner. Shady Bet continues to hold its form and Right Time needs to learn to settle.
Race 3: Sense of Purpose appreciated the extra trip and should win again.
Race 4: Mio Fratello has been sensational over the past two months and I'll be the first to put their hand up and say I've got this one wrong. Super training effort.
Race 5: Wolfe Dreams appreciated the fact that it was allowed to dictate its own speed. Travelled beautifully throughout. Speccio needs a spell. Keytomoney went super and will be hard to beat if it can draw a barrier.
Race 6: Cavallo Pazzo is in rare form and was well handled by Yuill. Flying Heritage can get away with a 1000m race this time in. Robinho is well suited to a midweek race.
Race 7: Rosie Rocket ran a cracker after sitting 3 wide. Knight Fury ran well and The Pudge returned a good efort after a break. Saezuri was disappointing for mine.
Race 8: Metal Talk just too good. Villagio ran nicely and Will To Win won't be long out of the winning stall in WA.

Nurse Trina
The Nurse keeps on performing consistently and has been a great dog to be a part owner of.
Bunji from Box 1 Racing has trained her to perfection and hopefully the girl can win a few more over the coming months.
