Belmont 29th May

Looks an interesting card.

R1 Mabel Grace was ultra impressive last start and from the good draw, can win again. I have it rated very short. The main danger is Keshaar whose 1st up effort was very good. Place chances to 4,5 &9.

2 MABEL GRACE $1.40 2nd
1 KESHAAR $12.70 1st $4.00

R2 This is an open affair made more difficult with some very good triallers. Joesready showed his potential with a strong win 2nd up. He hit the line hard and although drawn wide, if he can get cover, will be hard to beat. Pago Rock has the speed to go forward and won exceptionally well at Northam. Both Uma Park and Bosco trialled really well. They hit the line hard in their respective heats and showed a turn of foot which gives them a definite chance today.
Uma Park ($10.30) finished very quickly and won going away. Pago Rock did some work and fought on well for 2nd. Joe was disappointing.

R3 This is an interesting affair. There is plenty of speed. Sporting Fella resumed off a long break and weakened badly late but will appreciate this distance and class. Werd is flying, Chaci trialled well as did Liquidation, who also goes particularly well fresh. Mega Mak looks the run on horse and is not to be underestimated. Coiled Spring has drawn well and will get the run of the race.

5 LIQUIDATION $3.20 2nd
7 MEGA MAK $4.60 3rd
4 SPORTING FELLA $8.70
1 WERD $11.50 1st $2.80 Didn't price this too well ;-(

R4 This is another race with plenty of chances. From barrier 1, The Entourage should lead and be hard to beat. Sacred Crown should get the run of the race. Twilight Hero and Gotham City are both suited by the trip but have drawn wide. One horse who is not suited but does have ability is Storm On. I expect this to be running home well.

1 THE ENTOURAGE $5.90 2nd
5 TWILIGHT HERO $5.90
2 SACRED CROWN $6.20
4 GOTHAM CITY $6.40
12 WHISTLEDOWNTHEWIND $8.80 1st $8.60

R5 Not overly keen on this one. Galaxy Queen resumes off a break and was very consistent when last in. Manilla I Scream 2nd is getting close to a win, Zuboyne (1st $5.20) has drawn well and Leica Scene has been close up last few. A maddie could be It's Gulleygold.

R6 A super race. Idyllic Prince has drawn well and resumed with a top effort. Has been a very consistent performer. Grand Nirvana was super 2nd up. He showed a brilliant turn of fresh when resuming and from this barrier, won't be as far back today. Vain Rancher will run them along but the last 100m will test.Kid Chosoir was terrific at Northam and has drawn well enough for Harvey to choose a prominent position in the run. Broadway Belle never had much room 1st up and will be coming home but with so many good chances drawn well, she is up against it.

2 IDYLLIC PRINCE $4.30 2nd
4 GRAND NIRVANA $5.40 3rd
14 KID CHOISIR $8.80
8 VAIN RAIDER $11.40 1st $17.70
15 BLACK IN TIME $12.00

R7 Solidwickedcruel won at odds when resuming and has drawn perfectly again. If it has progressed, it can definitely repeat the win. Vain Strike was a tad unrucky but is a backmarker and this is always likely to happen. Battle Emblem resumed with a nice effort and Hide The Loot is consistent. General Albert just can't draw a barrier but may be able to get in as there is not a lot of early speed. Dvoryan race best fresh and is in on the minimum.

3 SOLIDWICKEDCRUEL $6.90
9 VAIN STRIKE $7.80
12 DVORYAN $8.20
7DEMANDS ATTENTION $12.00
2 BATTLE EMBLEM $12.20
5 HIDE THE LOOT $12.30 1st $6.40
13 LUNAR MODULE $13.30
10 GENERAL ALBERT $15.60
I was a long way from them in this one.

R8 A tough race to finish. Kenile is firing, Trustee Brown is better than its last effort and Scenic Pursuit covered plenty of ground at its lastest run but is up in class. Away We go is also going very well.

5 KENILE $5.10
7 TRUSTEE BROWN $6.50 2nd
8 AWAY YE GO $9.10 L Scr
1 AMIANAN $12.40
12 CONDY PARK $15.30
2 INFERNO $15.80
16 SCENIC PURSUIT $21.70

And finished off with a terrible effort.

Northam 27th

Looks a tough card.

R1 No6 Pintada Prince (1st $3.40) - trialled really nicely and stable produced Carton Street yesterday who just missed saluting. Dangers 9 & 10

R2 No11 Royal Culture (2nd) - promising debut behind Lady Doll who franked the form on Sat by winning again.

R5 Okay Geoff (2nd) - Last two runs have been very good although has drawn terribly.

R7 Rain Strike (unp) - this one is not very honest but it does go best when fresh.

R8 Elle Choisit (1st $4.00) is drawn to get a nice run and has continued to improve.

R9 Risktaker (unpl) has been most consistent.

Belmont Wednesday 26th

R1
Really liked the trials of Extra Beat. Barrier and P King a concern however (Scratched at barrier). Lady Xaar (1st $2.60)goes okay and is well drawn

R2
I really like three here. Playing God (2nd), Ambers Kingdon and Big Hold Up (1st $8.30). I think BHU is very smart. Wasn't fully tested first up as was quite green. Terrible barrier but races like it will get back anyhow. Highway Trader and Chokerre are place chances.

R3
Carlton Street (2nd $5.90) meets an easier field than what it met last prep. Barrier and P King a concern again!! Global Flirt (1st $1.90) looks good and is drawn well. Moneghetti is no slouch. Tranquilty's trial was okay.

R4 & R5 Happy to leave alone

R6
Kalahani (2nd) has grown a leg following a break. I am Lucky is a show.

R7
Happy to leave but being a leg of the quaddie, need to tip something ;-)

R8
I do like this one. Plenty of chances. Perricoota Miss (3rd) is in a purple patch. Good barrier and top jockey. Magic Eight (1st $3.70) showed it was almost back to its best last start. Have always had an opinion of Equisite Timing (4th) and was pleased to see Kingy off but then watched trial and thought it was only fair. Also liked Like Wildfire's 1st up run. Resurgent (scr) went super when fresh last prep and if they did go hard, would be a show. Dontloiter (2nd) has to be a place chance as well. Good race.

R9
Prince Courvoisier (3rd) /Rocking The Blues / and Apache Mak who I thought ran super last start. Challis (1st) a chance as is The Penski File.

Good luck if you are having a bet.

Cracking trial sets tongues wagging!

NEWS FLASH

Brad (the fox) Bevis finally had his first winner when Regal Delight won the second trial at Fannie Bay earlier today. After beginning slowly, young apprentice Simone Montgomery shot the big chestnut gelding to the front and was never headed.

So good was the run it looks like this potential champion will now miss the Darwin lead up races to the local cup carnival and head straight for a maiden at the Adelaide River Cup meeting.

Fellow owner Big Trev was later seen at the Parap Tavern celebrating the win with other owners and overheard saying “I’m excited!”

Melbourne Cup

Not too much to crow about today. The Forgotten Man passed and Peter Pan was a tad tired I believe after a big night. His early multi failed at the first hurdle with Geelong proving too good so both to double up next week.

The Swooper's result depends on Carlton today (Unfortunately not up to it):-(
Return $31.69

Will do a full update when you two blokes are organised.

Saturday Bookers

After watching the replays, the following horses are worth following.

Mabel Grace - excellent win and showed a very good turn of foot.
Chin Chin - ridden more patiently and was rewarded with a solid win.
Our Larrikin - a very nice finish, a jockey change may be in order.
Braodway Belle - a nice return. Hit line hard when spotted some room
Vain Strike - looking for 1600m.

Syndicate Update Sat 15/05/10

Melbourne Cup

Another solid performance by The Swooper this week. Although trailing overall, he is well on the way to ensuring that Peter Pan has to put his hand in his pocket and purchase the 2010 Melbourne Cup caps.

Thankfully Pozzi is having a rest this week as he needs it. Hopelessly out of form.

Swooper
$169.08 (YTD $1,006.43)

Peter Pan
$66.78 (YTD $1,430.14)

The Forgotten Man
$0.00 (YTD $1,080.91)

The competetion has been non existing these past few weeks but Peter Pan did put his hand up with the selection of Superscenic on Saturday, only to fall short again. Good luck next week.
